sometimes i have so much to say, i must form it in a list of random points
  • pink? evolutionary? this seems wrong to me.

  • 10 Things Your Restaurant Won't Tell You.

  • this both surprises and saddens me: Eagles release Trotter.

  • this pic is funny, but it may anger you if you take it seriously.

  • gmaps pedometer is an interesting little gadget. when we walk downtown and back, we walk nearly three miles. [if you look, it seems we walk across water, but there is a bridge.]

  • j-walk reports that one in four adults read no books at all in the past year. can you believe it? not me!

  • Disney, specifically, Hannah Montana, has cause to celebrate. last week's episode of HM got 10.7 million viewers, that's the highest ratings for a regular series in the history of basic cable.

    virginia's new slogan

i don't know all [or any] gang signs, but i would think people at the state of virgina would be smart enough not use any kind of hand signals in an ad campaign.

    the story is here.

    Michael Vick
i am on the edge of my seat awaiting a decision. the deadline is today.

    drugs in high school
a new study says teen drug problems are getting worse.
The percentage of teens who say they attend high schools with drug problems has increased from 44 percent to 61 percent since 2002, and the percentage in middle schools has increased from 19 percent to 31 percent ... Four in five teens in high school told researchers they have witnessed the use, sale or possession of illegal drugs on high school grounds, or seen someone who was drunk or high on campus.
most teens don't even think about this. it just is.

    senile cats
    from this discovery article:
Mental disorders associated with aging, including Alzheimer's, are far more common in domesticated cats than previously realized, with more than half of all cats over age 15 showing signs of senility, according to a forthcoming Journal of Small Animal Practice paper.

The findings support a growing body of evidence suggesting that most, if not all, mammals, can suffer age-related conditions normally associated with people.
my paws is eight years old.

    cemeteries
i mentioned the other day that i liked wandering through cemeteries. it reminded me to look at this virtual tour of the Père-Lachaise Cemetery.

the site is cool and it did bring back some memories of when i was there.

    what time is it?
time to not be quiet anymore.

and in honor, take a look at this article: The Best Time of Day to Do Just About Anything

    rules of thumb
If a person says, "Go look in the sink" - don't.

new report confirms and debunks some regarding black single mothers
a report by the U.S. Census Bureau show that not all blacks single mothers are dropouts and abusers. in fact, the rates of high school dropout is about the same for whites and blacks. excerpts from the report:
[M]ore than 80 percent of black single mothers have completed high school – an achievement that not only can aid them in raising families but one that goes a long way in debunking the stereotypes of single black mothers as welfare queens and drug abusers.

“We’ve kind of always known that black women had much stronger labor force attachments than white women,” Rutgers University professor William M. Rodgers told BlackAmericaWeb.com.

However, he said, a pay gap still exists between black and white women – as do other hurdles that make managing a one-parent household difficult for women of color.
this report also confirms some long-held notions:
Twenty percent of black single mothers in the study had been divorced, but 62 percent had never been married – suggesting that black single mothers – more than any ethnic group – were most likely to have never been married.
